Mecca Masjid Hyderabad History

Around 8000 masons were involved in the construction of this edifice. And, it took about 77 years to get completed. Such a huge time period!

As per Mecca Masjid Hyderabad history, in the sovereignty of Hyderabad’s fifth Qutb Shahi Sultan, Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, Mecca Masjid was built. Even the first stone was laid down by him in the 1614 year. In 1691, the edifice got completed finally in the reign of Aurangzeb who conquered Golconda kingdom (Qutb Shahi dynasty).

He carried on several renovations in this mosque and give it an astonished look as we see it now. In Hyderabad, it is denoted as heritage edifice too.

In 2007, Mecca Masjid Hyderabad witnessed a massive terrorist attack resulting in the death of sixteen victims. However, the devotion and faith in Almighty boosted people to overcome that incident and this is the reason that it’s the most admirable and most visited place of India.

Mecca Masjid Hyderabad Architecture

The architectural marvel, Mecca Masjid has been constructed in a soulful majestic way. It’s each detailing reflects the beauty of Islamic architecture. Speaking about the hall, the measuring of this massive hall is 67 by 54 meters and 23 meters in length. Its central attractive point is 15 mesmerizing arches hanging & supporting the ceilings.

Now come to the courtyard which adorns Mughul look is another attractive point here. Instead of being the structure of Qutub Shah dynasty, its courtyard bestows the feel of Mughul architecture. The whole edifice has been embellished with granite. The courtyard contains a large pond having slab seats. It is believed that one who sits here will return here for sure.

It’s believed that the Mihrab encases a brick from Mecca. The Mecca Masjid Hyderabad architecture is quite impressive. On its both the sides, octagonal columns have been constructed by using single granite piece and there’s an arched gallery as well, above these columns.

4:00 AM – 9:30 PM
There is no entrance fee for Mecca Masjid.

Makkah Masjid Prayer Times

During the whole day, five prayers are conducted here, Subh, Shuruq, Duhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha. Makkah Masjid prayer times start from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM and in this time span, these prayers are chanted from time to time.

How to reach Mecca Majid Hyderabad

Charminar Bus Stand is the closest bus stop to Mecca Masjid. After reaching this bus stop, you can hire an auto-rickshaw or taxi or you can even go on foot, there’s just walking distance left to reach the mosque.

If you opt for trains then Kachiguda Station is the closest one. It’s well connected to all other parts of the country and Hyderabad’s local stations too. After reaching here, you can take any public transport to reach the monument.

From the city as well, you can resort to any public transport option and visit the mosque.
