Gangotri Dham

Ganga River is the longest and most sacred river in the world. The main origin of the river is “Gaumukh” which is a glacier located 19 km away from Gangotri temple. Gangotri is located on the bank of Bhagirathi River. It is also famous for its ancient temples and religious momentous. We all know that Gangotri is one of the sacred shrines, and one of the most important Char Dham pilgrimages of Hindu Religion. The Ganga Temple at Gangotri was built by a Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the early 18th century which is one of the most important temples of River Ganga. There is a sacred stone near the temple where King Bhagiratha is said to have worshipped Lord Shiva. Jalamagna Shivalinga, Bhavishya Badri Temple, Bhairavanath Temple and Gaumukh are the other religious attractions in Gangotri. Uttarakhand is famous as all time favourite tourist place, there is so much to see. This temple opens on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya, falls in the month of May and closes down on Yama Dwitiya which falls in the month of November. This temple remains closed for six months when the deity is worshipped at Mukhwa, near Harsil.

Dayara Bugyalfor is one of the best trekking destinations in the Himalayas and the best in Uttarakhand is the favourite of trekkers. Dharali, which is famous for its apple orchards and red bean cultivation, can also be visited. Lord Shiva’s deity is there in an ancient temple in this village.

Kedartal Pass Trek is a lake trek nestled in the lap of Himalayas, Blessed with the true beauty of nature and picturesque landscape all around. This trek is bound to be extremely fascinating. Nearest airport to Gangotri Dham is Dehradun – Jolly Grant Airport (277 Kms) and the nearest railway station is Dehradun Railway Station (242 Kms).
